The mission of the SOU Retirees Association Council is fourfold: To provide a campus "home" as a point of contact for emeritus faculty; To provide a communication link with all SOU emeriti through a quarterly newsletter; To provide a quarterly on-campus event to foster a continuing SOU/Emeriti relationship; and To facilitate opportunities for SOU to use talents of emeriti for the mutual benefit of both parties.
The current Council consists of 17 emeriti who were nominated and volunteered to represent retired cohorts: 4 each from the SOU Schools of Sciences and Nursing, Social Sciences/Education/Health & PE, and Arts and Letters, and 1 from the Business School--plus 4 from administrative and support positions.
Council members meet at least quarterly to facilitate on-campus events and assist in the production of a newsletter. The Conferences and Senior Programs Office, in Cox 111, is the SOU contact and funder of Retirees Association Council activities.
